The last chess evening of the year

This Thursday will be our last Chess evening of 2018.
It will be an exiting evening, as the final positions for the 2018 Players Cup will depend on the results played on the night.

I wish good luck to all those involved.

The 2018 Bill Laar Trophy however, has already been concluded, and I’m very pleased to see some new names on the trophies this year.

Winner: Robert Steel
Runner Up: Pedro Monteiro
Third Place: Chris Siebert

After the New Year we re-open on Thursday 3rd January 2019.

C1 has an intense start to the new year, playing matches on 7th, 15th, 24th and 31st January.

Then after January, C1 only has one match in February, another in March and two games in April. So all hands to the pump in January for the C1 crew, as January is a critical month for its results.

It’s worth pointing out now, although I shall remind everyone again closer to the date, that on THURSDAY 24th January both C1 and C2 have away matches. Therefore the club evening will be closed, as most of us will be playing for both of our teams on this date.

With regard to the 2018 trophy presentations. I intended to ask Asif to give us a free Thursday in the mid January fixtures so that we could host our clubs presentations. But I forgot to do so.
However, luck is on our side, as on Thursday 17th January both C1 & C2 do not have a fixture.

Our 2018 trophies presentation will therefore take place on Thursday 17th January.

Regards,
Steve
